The nasal ala is a frequent site for this neoplasia. The treatment of choice is surgical, and Mohs micrographic surgery is one of the indicated techniques for presenting great accuracy in the histological control of margins and high cure rates with low recurrence rates. In this location, not only is a cure needed, but also the maintenance of facial aesthetics. The authors describe five cases of complete amputation of the nasal ala after Mohs micrographic surgery, with reconstruction using the Spear’s flap.

Paramedian forehead flap for nasal tip reconstruction after Mohs surgery
The paramedian forehead flap is a great option for restoring complex nasal defects. Its main indications are large and deep wounds located on the distal third of the nose (tip and ala). For full-thickness defects, the paramedian forehead flap may be used alone or in combination with other methods. We presented a patient with a nodular basal cell carcinoma on the nasal tip and collumela treated ...
متن کاملCombination Nasolabial Transposition Flap and Island Pedicle Flap Following Mohs Surgery of Simultaneous Basal Cell Carcinomas Involving Both Nasal Alae.
The nasal ala is a challenging area for surgical reconstruction, with thick sebaceous skin, the lack of an ample tissue reservoir, and an adjacent free margin. Numerous flaps have been reported for the repair of alae defects. A 71-year-old woman with simultaneous basal cell carcinomas involving both nasal alae was treated by Mohs micrographic surgery. The surgical defects measured 1.5×1.5 cm on...

Ali Hendi, MD, has indicated no significant interest with commercial supporters. A n 80-year-old woman underwent surgery to treat primary basal cell carcinoma on the right nasal ala. The tumor measured 0.9 Â 0.4 cm and appeared to involve the nasal lining (Figure 1). Tumor-free margins were obtained after the first stage of Mohs micrographic surgery. A 1.3 Â 0.6-cm defect involving 2 mm of the ...

ABS TRACT Introduction: The reconstruction of surgical defects resulting from the excision of tumors in the nose is a challenge for dermatologic surgeons due to its rigid structure and low mobility. The Mohs Micrographic Surgery technique allows the preservation of healthy tissue and leads to a smaller surgical wound. Objective: To demonstrate techniques for surgical correction of defects after...
